There is no need to be here :) The forum is upgraded and new features will be activated as the days go by. Thanks for your patience! www.gibsoncountynow.com/forums |

The domain name gibsoncountynow.com should point to the forum within 4-8 hours. It takes a while for the change to propogate through the web. Some things may not appear quite right yet, but the db is saved. |

It looks like the technician is going to be able to save the database. I peaked a few minutes ago and the info was there. Now I hope he can save the customizations that I made to the site (left border and top border). |

Arn finally got the tech help at the hosting company to tell him the database server name so he could send it to the help people at the software company. He sent the info to the pros about midnight and they are going to be working at installing the new forum today. |

Now once they tell me the name of the server, I can turn it all over to them and they said they can do it same day. I bet we'll be up and running mid-day Friday. |

I'm all set up and now I try to pay the software company online and the web page won't accept my credit card info. I really hate computers. Now I'm waiting on sales support to get back with me. |

I have rounded up all usernames and passwords (hey, I'm not perfect!) It's been years since the guts of some of these things have been accessed. I wrote all of them down, but the hosts & such change their software and then my passwords get changed without me knowing it.
I am going to pay the forum software people to do an install for me. I can't get to it quickly enough for the GCN demand. They said they can get it done same day.
There is a slight chance that I'll have to point the gibsoncountynow.com domain back to the corrupt site so the pros can fix it. (You'll get the dreaded error message again while they're working on it.)I'm going to try to get around that however, since some GCN'ers don't yet know what's going on. |

Look to the left and right on this page and you'll see it. There are no controls as to who posts, so please behave. Abuse means it will be shut down or post approval required. Neither is good in this time of GCN member stress :) |

BAD NEWS: The database and both backups are corrupted. Arn will upgrade the software over the next couple of days.
GOOD NEWS: The software will be updated with new features. Long overdue. (Also, it explains the recent strange behavior. It wasn't the host's fault afterall.) |

The web host is working feverishly to restore the database. It is not known what has happened.
In the event that the database cannot be restored, a newer updated version of the software will be implemented. This process may take a few days.
We are very sorry that those addicted to GCN must do without for this period of time. Please keep your fingers crossed that the web host can restore things for their sake.
Arn will add a message section to this page today. |
